We collect a little. We sell none of it.
Privacy policies are usually forty screens of lawyer prose written so you will give up and click accept. Here is ours in one page: what this website collects, why we collect it, and the lines we will not cross.
What we collect
Five things. Each one exists because you handed it to us or because your browser sends it along with the visit.
- Your email, if you join the list or place an order. That is the only way we get it.
- Your order and shipping details, if you buy a ChirpSense. Stripe handles the payment itself, so your card number never touches our servers.
- How you found us: the tags on the link you clicked (the UTM bits after the question mark) and the site that sent you here.
- An approximate region, meaning city, state, and country, which Cloudflare works out from your network connection, plus your timezone and whether you visited from a phone, tablet, or computer. It is not GPS. It can tell you are somewhere around Denver; it has no idea which street.
- Whether our emails get opened or clicked. It is how we learn the difference between an email you wanted and one you tolerated.
Why we collect it
Three reasons, all of them boring. To fulfill your order and get a ChirpSense to your door. To send the emails you actually signed up for. And to see which pages work, so we can fix the ones that do not. That is the whole list. There is no fourth reason hiding in a definitions section.
What we never do
- We never sell your data. Not to advertisers, and not to data brokers. Your email exists in our records to receive email, and that is its whole career.
- We never buy profiles about you. Plenty of companies pay brokers to fill in what you did not tell them. We know what you chose to share and nothing else.
- The device never sends your home audio anywhere. This is the one people actually ask about. Bird sound is identified on the device, in your home. Raw audio has no path off the shelf, and we could not fetch it if we wanted to. This page is about the website; for the device, read how ChirpSense works.
Your choices
Every email we send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. If the link ever fails you, reply to the email and a human takes you off the list.
Curious what we have on you, or want it deleted? Email hello@chirpsense.com and ask. It is a short file, and we are happy to read it back or erase it.
Cookies and trackers
No ad pixels, no social widgets, nothing that follows you to another site or feeds an ad auction. Two things do load from outside this domain, and both are listed here on purpose: Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies, fingerprinting, or a record of who you are, and Stripe.js on the pages with a pre-order button, which Stripe needs to run its checkout securely. Everything else is the first-party basics listed above, collected by us and kept to ourselves.
